  • 300g fresh summer fruit e.g. raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, blackcurrants
  • 95g caster sugar
  • 75g butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 140g self raising flour
  • 20g Cocoa Powder
  • About 4 tbsp semi skimmed milk
  • 60g Cadbury Dairy Milk, roughly chopped

Extra equipment you will need:
1 litre ovenproof dish

1. Grease an ovenproof dish of about 1 litre capacity and heat the oven to 180˚C, gas mark 4. Arrange the fruit in the base of the dish and sprinkle over 20g of the sugar.

2. Cream the butter and remaining sugar together until pale and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time and beat well.

3. Gently stir in the flour and cocoa powder together with a little milk to give a dropping consistency. Stir in the chocolate pieces.

4. Spoon the sponge mixture over the summer fruits, levelling the surface. Bake for about 40 minutes until risen and firm to touch, or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the pudding comes out clean. Leave to cool for a few minutes before serving.

In the autumn, instead of the summer fruits use blackberries and apple slices.
